What is Glaucoma?

  • The eye makes fluid called aqueous (blue arrows)

  • It should drain the fluid quickly

  • Glaucoma occurs when the drainage system is blocked (red arrows)

  • Pressure builds up in the eye

  • Damage occurs to the optic nerve
